A Fresh Start

Greetings,
I began writing this blog in 2007 with hopes of informing the curly haired community as to what works and what doesn't when managing curly hair. I believe I also started this blog in college as something to do other than social networking with peers. Needless to say, social networking took over and it wasn't until just last night (I'm serious) I stumbled upon this blog. I was previewing other blogs and realized that I liked reading what people had to say. Despite the vain-tone of that statement, I did really enjoy reading these biographies. But what to write about that was different from the common crowd was where I was struggling. It was then that I had this idea.

When having to come up with passwords and user names for various websites, in the past, I have always used a similar variation of two things for everything. How original, I know. Well, one day I was forced to change pathways. Being a creature of habit, this was challenging. I looked around me and noticed common objects around my desk. It was then that I decided to use things I saw as passwords and user names. In a pinch, I can get wildly, creative, ninja150.

So how does this relate to the blog? Well, you see, I was debating what to use as my focus and while perusing the scene, I realized that whenever I want to purchase something, I am always interested in what other people think about the product. Whenever I'm on Sephora, especially when ordering face stuff, I always read the reviews. I look for the amount of stars and why or why not that person liked it or didn't. I'm not much of a salesperson, but I know what I like and I know what works. If I can find something that is practical, cost-effective and can multi-task - I'm sold! These are the kind of things I can tell people about. Sometimes, I see persuading as lying in a sense. If the Pinot Noir tastes like a tannery, it's going to be difficult to entice a Pinot Grigio loving soul out of their comfort zone. I tried to persuade, but I felt like I was lying. Needless to say, I never pushed that PN again.

I know what I like and I know what works. Not everything I blog  about (wow, I can't believe I used that verb, blog) will be completely cost-effective; however, it will have a sufficient reason as to why it is, indeed, fabulous.

Happy Looking,
i

See you later, Diana Ross! Frizz Be Gone!

(Product information can be found on the John Frieda web page, more specifically, the Frizz-Ease products.)

First and foremost, for those people not familiar with frizzy hair, possibly those blessed without it - frizzy hair is most active when humidity is in the air. People with curly hair tend to have dry hair follicles, though, when moisture within the air meets the curly hair, it frizzes. I know this is hard to explain, but you can find more information about frizzy hair by clicking the previous link.

Frizz-Ease is probably one of the best products on the market for people with curly hair, or people trying to manage frizzy hair. The John Frieda Collection has many different products that I use for curly hair. Some of the products include, Curl Around Style Starting Shampoo & Conditioner, Original Formula Hair Serum - this blocks frizz all day, Clearly Defined Style Holding Gel - this really holds the curl and locks out the frizz and finally, Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray - for those extra humid days, this is a great product for all types of hair prone to frizz.

John Frieda also makes products for people with straight and wavy hair. The other products can be found on his website, as listed in the previous post.

Introduction

Greetings fellow curly haired people! I am Ingrid and I am one of the many people in the world blessed to have curly hair. Through the years, I discovered many different types of curly hair. There is this very interesting and informative book I read that helped me determine which kind of curls I have. The book is called Curly Girl: The Handbook I have Botticelli curls. This means I have medium curls that are longer. That's not to say I don't have tight curls, because I do, as long as the correct product is used. A good friend of mine, (the one who let me borrow that book) has Corkscrew Curls. Wavy hair is the last type of curly hair.

I've also tried many different products such as my favorite, John Frieda - his products are amazing, the philosophy products from Sephora, Infusium 23 and various Redken products. All of the marvelous products can be found at the websites by clicking on the html links above. My favorite products, brief summaries and photos are coming soon. Please feel free to comment with your experiences and/or findings.
